You’re in good hands

Sarah Toor, filmmaking

I’ve spent decades immersed in storytelling through photography, filmmaking, and recorded sound. I document real lives with genuine expression and create short films and standalone audio pieces to screen and share publicly and privately.

Whether we’re recording a voice, capturing a portrait, or gathering content for a short film, I gently guide the process and then refine what we’ve captured, editing with focused intention so that emotion, personality, and story stay front and center.

Ways we can work together

Photography

I’ve been fortunate to photograph just about everything under the sun — from seasoned chefs and Timbers games, to newborns and 50-year wedding anniversaries. That range allows me to drop into each moment with honed presence, noticing opportunities as they arise.

Sound & Story

I craft highly personal keepsakes and gifts through sound, visuals, or a blend. These projects can be as varied as the people they celebrate. Starting with a conversation, we’ll explore what you’re thinking, and talk about ideas and options to support it.

A lifelong love for storytelling

At 11 years old, I fell in love with a vintage Kodak Duaflex camera — discovering how much I enjoyed framing the world around me. After earning a photography degree, working in editorial photography, and co-hosting ten annual film festivals, that foundation shapes how I see and document our lives, loves and standalone moments.

At 13 years old, I begin documenting voices, sound effects and storytelling with a microcassette tape recorder (which I still have today). That early fascination with sound later turned into Blacklight Audio Fest, an annual celebration of all things audio that stretched over nine years.

Today, my work brings together photography, film, and recorded sound — capturing honest expression and transforming fleeting moments into meaningful stories you can hold onto.
